Kirk Bateman Presented and Participated in a Panel Symposium at the American Statistical Association Arizona Chapter Fall Meeting
Tempe, AZ, October 30, 2015 – Kirk Bateman, Director, Biostatistics at SDC, presented and participated in a panel symposium titled “Statistics: Past, Present and Future” at the Fall Chapter Meeting of the American Statistical Association (ASA) Arizona Chapter in Tempe, AZ on Thursday, October 29, 2015.
Kirk’s presentation focused on the current state of clinical trials statistics, including:
- The role of the clinical trials statistician
- Statistical methodologies used in clinical trials
- Understanding bias
Kirk was one of three invited speakers, accompanied by Dr. Rodney Jee of FICO and Dr. Helen Zhang of the University of Arizona. Following their respective presentations, the three experts answered questions in a panel symposium covering the comprehensive topic “Statistics: Past, Present and Future.”
Kirk Bateman joined SDC in January 2013 as Director, Biostatistics and brings over 15 years of clinical trial expertise to SDC. Prior to joining SDC, he served as the Manager of Statistics at Bausch & Lomb, and previously as a Senior Biostatistician at PPD. He maintains an array of therapeutic area expertise including medical devices, ophthalmology, allergy, respiratory, cardiovascular, rheumatology, neurology, musculoskeletal, gastroenterology and oncology. Kirk holds a MS in Biostatistics from the University of Iowa and a BS in Statistics from Brigham Young University. He is an active member of the American Statistical Association and the ASA Arizona Chapter, among other professional associations.
